Since 1921, the Student Christian Movement has transformed the faith of countless students.
Student leaders have gone on to join the World Council of Churches, the Canadian Senate, community organizations and churches across the country. We’ve done much over the years - from student in industry workcamps to exciting conferences, international pilgrimages and solidarity summers. But as fundamentalism and injustice flourish around the world, we need a vibrant, cutting edge ecumenical youth movement more than ever. The SCM is persistent and passionate, but needs your support. ![]() How can you support the movement?
Without our network of friends and allies, we couldn’t do our work. Our alumni and friends continue to support us because they believe in our work for justice, spirituality and community. The SCM Canada is generously supported by alumni, or Senior Friends, by people who believe in our vision, and by religious communities and institutions. Whether you were once part of an SCM unit, or want to know what we’re up to, why not join our Friends network ? Friends of SCM contribute the majority of SCM’s funding. The National board of directors also includes a position for a Senior Friend. A big thanks to our senior friends for all their help over the years. Some Senior Friends are involved in a local advisory board. Most SCM local units have an advisory board to support the students and help keep the movement stable. They are the people behind the scenes in this student-led organization.
